I think but cannot confirm that the “clothes shop” is a charity shop and it was reported (some 3 years ago) that Rami is claiming benefits from the UK taxpayer.
As you can see,the SOHR is totally unbiased, really well managed and has world-wide respect.
Not anti-Assad at all, and has marvellous resources to verify all its’ information.
Virtually all major News organisations in the west use SOHR as the prime source of news for Syria.

He may be confusing the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights with the Palestinian Observatory for Human Rights, which is based in Herzliya and which successfully monitors the compliance by the IDF with the code of Purity of Arms to ensure no accidental abuses occur, no matter how small.
My sources confirm your description of Rami Abdulrahman. You only forgot to mention why he was imprisoned in Syria under the criminal regime of Assad: it was because of his tireless fight for democracy and against the tyranny of Assad who, as we all know, killed hundreds of thousands of his own people with bacteriological weapons obtained from Saddam Hussein.
Rami Abdulrahman, despite his modest base of operations, has a vast network of reliable informants in Damascus. Indeed he reports as if he were there himself, which is why he is affectionately known among the Western intelligence services as “Our Man in Damascus,” a hat tip to the novel by Graham Greene.
@ariadna the fact that the sources are “undisclosed”, does not in any way deflect from the horrors, horrors I tell you, that “Dictator from Damascus” is inflicting. Claims that he has the support and votes of 80% of Syrians should be dismissed, as when they asked Syrians in UK, none of them (all of whom had claimed refugee status) supported the “Tyrant of Tartus”, further they told this reporter that they were sure that many others did not like the “Despot from Daraa”.
