“What about all the Palestinian children the IDF killed?” people have commented on my essay, “What Really Happened in Jerusalem.”

To which I reply: I hate when children die. Your children, or our children. (And as far as I’m concerned, “yours” and “ours” are bullshit qualifiers  anyway, because no child should die.)

Children should live to grow up and learn from our mistakes and make the world a little kinder, a little more accepting.

Right now, things are really bleak. And you know what would go a long way to lighting the uncertain path to some sort of future where we can coexist?  Just a little empathy, that’s all.

A baby was murdered. She wasn’t wearing olive green and carrying an F-16.  She was wrapped in a blanket in her grandfather’s arms.

How does that NOT shake everyone into that universal place of sadness?

When Muhammed Abu Khdeir was murdered, the outcry from Israel was deafening.

Where is that outcry from the Palestinians? From Abbas? Those who aren’t full-on celebrating, are blaming Israel.

Where is that outcry from the BDS supporters? Oh wait, they’re too busy using their Intel processors (made in Israel, for the record) find justification for this senseless murder.

Hell, where is that outcry from the UN? I know “strongly worded condemnations” take a few minutes to write, but come onnnn… it’s been two days already.

Instead, a child’s murder has become a numbers game, where my grief — and the grief of all of us living in Israel who feel that this baby was part of our family, because she WAS part of our family, somehow begs the question: “Yeah, well what about the children in Gaza?”
And so it goes, whirling and twirling into the hard, cold darkness.

A few simple words would soften things – A quiet statement from the PA president condemning the senseless murder of an innocent child, would be a start. Op-eds written by Palestinians condemning a culture that celebrates death would be a start. And I do see it from a precious few — and it’s sad to me that their empathy should stand out when really, the outrage should pour in from all directions.

Yes, I ask too much.

But because I hope that one day we can figure out a way to live together, I’ll keep asking.

  1. “When Muhammed Abu Khdeir was murdered, the outcry from Israel was deafening.”
    Laughable, truly.

  2. The supposed cctv, pointed at the tram/bus stop, they showed was from a very long way off, a little fuzzy, and for some reason, wasn’t still, as if following the motor vehicle, and nothing could really be discerned.
I don’t believe the story at all.
NLG, yes, the chutzpah knows no limits.

  3. It’s always the same; while the US military is killing who knows how many civilians in Syria & Iraq, nobody is counting or recording the number of deaths of innocents – and ISIS have not even fired a single shot at the US. Israel on the other hand, kills a single civilian from a state that voted in a leadership that fires thousands of rockets on Israeli civilians, and it’s magnified, castigated & blamed. The rejoicing of the murder of this Jewish baby by the Palestinian Arabs was a disgrace. As you say, compare this with the overwhelming condemnation by the Israeli public of the murderers of the Muslim child……the murderer of the Jewish baby will probably have a street or public building named after him by the leadership eg Abbas the murderers of the Muslim boy will forever be held in contempt by the Israeli public and leadership.
Ed Note OCDG: Since the US and the western world act in the employ of the jewish people, their crimes are your crimes. The tens of millions of Muslims killed in the last 2 or 3 decades, are directly jewish crimes. If a person hires a hitman, who murders someone, do authorities only hold the hitman responsible? In fact, the one who hired him is far more guilty.
There are countless streets, buildings, institutions named after jewish murderers, genociders, rapists and terrorists.
The jews, acting against God’s commandment of exile, returned to establish their satanic state. The invaders are automatically void of any and all rights. A burglar breaking into a home, will and has to expect to be met with any and all resistance. Palestinians have the God given right of self-defense.
The satanic jews, who disobey their Creator, the One whom they broke their covenant with, over and over, should be overjoyed at being allowed to exist at all on this plane of reality. Far less evil people than the jews have been erased from history for their wickedness, by God.
When jews mourn the death of millions of Muslims and hundreds of millions of other Gentiles, as if they were jews, then you may be worthy of being heard.
The very best of you are stiffnecked, delusional, black-hearted, stone-cold psychopaths. You can’t even remember a month ago when you massacred over 500 infants and children, murdered over 2000 women and men and destroyed 20,000+ homes, causing nearly 10 billion dollars in damage. Not to mention the hundreds of thousands of people psychologically scarred, for life.
I’ll add my curse atop Moses’ curse and David’s curse of the jewish people. Then for the coup de grace, God’s curse of you miserable lot.
God damn the jews and may you never find a single day of happiness in this life nor breathe a sigh of relief, for your children and their children, till the day of judgement.

  4. TROLL Lurker ‘Helen Solomons’ . Really? Since when has any “israeli” ever decried the death of any Palestinian? Are you just here to attempt to cause discord and confusion or is your hasbara Time Card about to expire?
    Troll elsewhere.

  5. “A quiet statement from the PA president condemning the senseless murder of an innocent child, would be a start” you say… and why not a not so quiet statement from the Israël president and his slugs for the genocide of a civilisation? That would be a better start…
And all that whining for a jew child killed on a street in Jerusalem (which is extremely sad, I agree)… and what about those 2 little palestinian girls runned over by one of your fanatic settlers on a street in Jerusalem few weeks ago (which is extremely sad too but nothing has been done about it by your people except cheering the killer)? You are silent about that one, isn’t it? And what about your other gangs of fanatic settlers who burn and vandalize houses and orchards, attack/beat and kill innocent people ~ elders and young ~ and poison waters in Palestine, on their own lands?
Come on guy… give your head a shake… if you still have something in it ~ fact I am starting to doubt seriously. What people are trying to tell your blunt brain is that we don’t give a dam about the fact they are palestinians, muslims, arabs, christians, krishnas, black, yellow, purple or marsians… you have no rights on killing people, no rights to genocide a civilisation, no rights to destroy their houses / their orchard / their way of life, no rights to steal their ancestral lands to build your houses, no rights to block them access to their water, no rights to poison their water, no rights to steal their oil and gas and sell it to other countries, no rights to refuse them the right to cultivate and harvest on their own lands, no rights to attack them just for the fun of it, no rights to kidnap their children outside their schools, no rights to kill children and their moms/dads/grand parents/friends and surely no darn rights to consider yourself as a god chosen one ~ if this god chose you it is one created out of your sick mind and certainly not the real God as the real One is a God of Love and a Creator, not a destructor… and He would not have been that dumb to chose your warmonger species as the creme of the creme and condemn all his other creations to slavery under your dictatorship.
So please, stop whining with crocodile tears and take a good look at yourself.
