Trump’s Candidacy — A Teachable Moment

[Ariadna — Pat Buchanan is an American patriot first and a Republican a close second. I find his analysis accurate but incomplete. He says that Trump’s candidacy has exposed “the underbelly of a decaying establishment whose repudiation by America’s silent majority is long overdue.” True enough, “the Trump phenomenon” is a teachable moment revealing just how far the “Establishment” (de facto run by the Jewish elite) is willing to go to remove from the national stage a protagonist who steps out, even a little, of the blocked square he is supposed to stand in to deliver his scripted lines.

Buchanan, however, does not zero in on the fact that the bubbling brew of national discontent on which Trump bobs is — to coin an oxymoron, “blind awareness.” The nation is aware of WHAT ails it but still blind as to WHO is responsible for its ailment. Those who do know cling to the hope that Trump will spell it out, which he has not and will not do. The vast majority is caught up, not in a movement with a direction and a destination, but in a swirl of brownian motion. The only certainty shared by most is that the “establishment” is rotten and, in an automatic reflex, they reach for  anyone who is perceived to be an outsider, like Trump or Sanders.

Not only political maturity and civic education, but basic knowledge of the state of the nation’s economy and finances, the priorities of national interest, statecraft and geopolitics, are all sorely lacking in the American voting public. Just for a single example, do more than a couple out of every 100 Americas even know who owns the Federal Reserve? I think not.

Trump promises to “build up our military” so nobody can dare to threaten us, so we don’t have to fight more wars?!? And people buy this?!? We are waging wars ever since we were attacked by our enemies — the Muslims! — led by the devilishly clever, tall Arab in renal failure because they smelled weakness on us?!? And “Dubya” deserves criticism because… he should have seen it coming?!? Because it happened on his watch”?!? But wait, wait, see, Trump is only saying this to get past “them.” Let him get in and 5 minutes after his Inauguration, “pow in the kisser!” as the Honeymooners used to say, he’ll really show the Chosennites who’s in charge. And people  buy this?!?

Pat Buchannan is right: Trump has exposed the underbelly of the Beast, but I add that he has also inadvertently exposed the awesome power of the Beast, to whose feet he prostrated himself at AIPAC.

Trump or Sanders will somehow “bring back our manufacturing jobs”? And people believe this?!?

As a Republican, Buchanan is concerned that his party should survive. Cui bono, Pat?

The bordello in Washington that provides distraction every election cycle while the Johns are robbed will not be reformed by hiring new “girls.” A teachable moment indeed but the class is empty. College basketball is on TV.]

Whatever one may think of Donald Trump, his campaign has done us a service — exposing the underbelly of a decaying establishment whose repudiation by America’s silent majority is long overdue.

According to The New York Times, super PACs of Trump’s GOP rivals, including PACs of candidates who have dropped out, are raising and spending millions to destroy the probable nominee.

Goals of the anti-Trump conspirators: Manipulate the rules and steal the nomination at Cleveland. Failing that, pull out all the stops and torpedo any Trump-led ticket in the fall. Then blame Trump and his followers for the defeat, pick up the pieces, and posture as saviors of the party they betrayed.

This is vindictiveness of a high order.

Last week came reports on another closed conclave of the “Never Trump” cabal at the Army and Navy Club in D.C. Apparently, William Kristol circulated a memo detailing how to rob Trump of the nomination, even if he finishes first in states, votes and delegates.

Should Trump win on the first ballot, Kristol’s fallback position is to create a third party and recruit a conservative to run as its nominee.

Purpose: Have this rump party siphon off enough conservative votes to sink Trump and give the presidency to Hillary Rodham Clinton, whose policies are more congenial to the neocons and Kristol’s Weekly Standard.

Indeed, if the supreme imperative for Kristol and the “Never Trump” conservatives is to defeat him, they have become de facto allies of George Soros and MoveOn.org, Black Lives Matter and Occupy Wall Street — and the party of Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer and Hillary Clinton.

The Beltway has to come to terms with reality. It has not only lost the country; it has lost the party. It is not only these elites themselves who have been repudiated; it is their ideas and their agenda.

The American people want their borders secured, the invasion stopped, the manufacturing plants brought back and an end to the conscription of our best and bravest to fight wars dreamed up in the tax-exempt think tanks of neoconservatives.

Trump is winning because he speaks for the people. Look at those crowds.

Establishment pundits are now wailing that they have gotten the message, that they understand that they have not been listening.
But still, they refuse to act on this recognition.

Donald Trump is only the messenger.

If these conservative defectors from a ticket led by Trump collude with Democrats, by running a third party candidate to siphon off Trump’s votes, they may succeed.

But they delude themselves if they think they will have solved the problem of their own irrelevance, or that they have a future.

The party will survive. They won’t.
