ZERO HEDGE – Over the past year, the US State Department had repeatedly objected to the proposed Russian delivery of S-300 missile defense systems to Iran. One year ago, the issue first came up when as CNN reported then John Kerry raised objections with Moscow over a plan to sell advanced missile defense systems to Iran. The White House said Kerry made the US opposition clear in a phone call to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
Don’t copy Israeli lies. John Kerry was doing what his masters at the AIPAC told him to say. Delivery of S-300 anti-missile batteries, even though paid fully by Iran in 2007, was dragged and cancelled by Russia under Israeli objections. Iran even took Russia to international court for not fulfilling its international obligations of a signed agreement.
Now, Russia made the first delivery because the country needs more cash due to the US-EU sanctions.
In May, 2015, the Jewish news commentary website, The American Interest in an editorial claimed that the delivery of S-300 is mainly delayed because with S-300 in Iranian hands, it will be very difficult for Israel if it decided to carry airstrikes on Iranian military targets in the future.
“A big wave of emigration after the fall of USSR created a large Russian (Jewish) immigrant community in Israel, and Putin believes that one of the big mistakes of the Soviet Union was to abandon its original friendship with the country,” editorial said.
