I am not even sure we can really call them ‘men’ as most of them are in their late teens/early twenties, full of testosterone etc.
That being said, it appears that economic crisis are often manufactured for many purposes, one of them being to create a situation where men (and now women & transgender) are in such a dire situation that their only option is homelessness or join the army.
