ed note–the readers of this website will recall that early on in the invasion the question was raised here (and as far as we know, the only place even as of now) that those ‘security concerns’ that prompted Vladimir Putin to commit to military action was that Russian intelligence sources suspected that plan was afoot to sabotage the Chernobyl nuclear plant, make it appear an ‘accident’, but nevertheless, a ‘nuclear event’ whose main victim would have been Russia itself, given the geographical/meteorological realities that exist.
What tipped us off that possibly this was what was afoot was Zelensky’s reaction to Russian troops seizing the plant–very emotional, very angry, panicked in fact, labeling it a ‘declaration of war’ against all of Europe.
Now, almost a week into the invasion, Lavrov, Russia’s FM, has given the world a better glimpse of what REALLY was going on behind the scenes, and when one reads his words carefully and weighs them for the symbolism and nuance that attends all political and diplomatic language, it would appear that the question originally raised here is in fact rooted in more truth than some may have thought.
Notice as well the reaction on the part of those Western powers in what can only be termed very childish, undiplomatic, unsophisticated behavior that has typified similar behaviors in the past, such as when former Iranian President Ahmadinejhad spoke at the UN–to get up and walk out, exactly as Israel ordered them to do.
Notice as well, at least within the confines of the limited information being reported here, that no mention was made by Lavrov of NATO, of the Donbas or any of the more surface-level ‘security concerns’ that have functioned as the particulars of this story since it all began a week ago.
Yes, it is a safe bet to assume, ladies and Gentile-men, that indeed a ‘Jernobyl’ operation was doubtless in the works and that Russia’s actions in invading Ukraine and seizing control of the plant were done to prevent what was a planned sabotage by Israel/America in order to drive the Russians out of the Middle East.
The Hill
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday that the ‘real danger’ of Ukraine acquiring nuclear weapons required a response from Moscow, Reuters reports.
‘Today, the dangers that [Ukrainian President] Zelensky’s regime pose for neighboring countries and international security in general have increased substantially after the authorities set up in Kyiv have embarked upon dangerous games related to plans to acquire their own nuclear weapons,’ Lavrov said while speaking at a disarmament meeting in Geneva, according to the news service.
‘Ukraine still has Soviet nuclear technologies and the means of delivery of such weapons. We cannot fail to respond to this real danger,’ Lavrov added.
Representatives from multiple nations reportedly did not attend Lavrov’s speech and staged a similar boycott of his remarks at a United Nations human rights forum on Tuesday.
A moment of silence was held before the speeches for the Ukrainian victims of Russia’s invasion, Reuters noted.
Moscow invaded Ukraine last week, with Russian President Vladimir Putin saying the former Soviet republic needed to be ‘demilitarized’ and ‘denazified.’ Putin’s justification was quickly dismissed by Ukraine and its allies as propaganda.
