A Bnei Brak mohel has been charged with felony negligent homicide after an infant he circumcised two weeks earlier passed away from an infection.
ed note–for those who may be unaware, infant boys dying after having the skin from their most sensitive body part ripped off without anesthesia is something of a common occurance.
The reason, and which features often in news stories covering these events, is that an intrinsic part of the circumcision process that is required by Jewish religious law is that the ‘mohel’ who is performing the procedure, after cutting/ripping ths skin off of the baby boy’s sexual organ, then puts that same mutiliated sexual organ in his mouth and sucks on it. Given that herpies is a naturally-occuring virus in the human mouth, quite often these infants contract this deadly disease for which, given as young as they are, they have no immunological response.
The question that all should be asking and discussing as it relates to this is what kind of people believe that their connection with the creator demands such a perverse and deadly procedure?
We can all imagine what the noise would be if this were a religious practice required by Islam rather than one practiced by the Jews.

A mohel from the Israeli town of Bnei Brak was arrested on Tuesday for negligent homicide after an infant died two weeks after undergoing circumcision.
The police stated that investigators from the Bnei Brak-Ramat Gan station opened an investigation upon receiving a report of the infant’s death due to alleged complications of the circumcision performed by the mohel.
The investigation found that the infant underwent circumcision earlier this month. After an infection developed at the site of the incision, the infant was brought to a physician who referred him immediately to the emergency room. The hospital then pronounced the infant dead.
The police stated that the mohel was taken for questioning on suspicion of negligent homicide of a minor. Following his interrogation, he was jailed, and tomorrow he will be brought before the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court for a hearing.
