An Israeli citizen living in Amsterdam has been arrested by Dutch police and charged with smuggling drugs to Israel.
The man, 32, is considered a leading member of a ‘sophisticated and well-organized smuggling network’ responsible for trafficking ‘huge amounts of drugs across Europe and other countries,’ police say.
The contraband was concealed with ‘advanced and deceptive methods, attesting to a high level of planning, coordination and operational capability,’ police add.
The man’s arrest is part of an investigation that has been ongoing for several months, conducted jointly by the Dutch and Israeli police. Arrests of additional suspects in Europe and Israel are anticipated.
