LOST SHEEP – Matthew 15:24
“But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house
of Israel.”
John 4:21-23; “Jesus saith unto her, Woman believe me, the hour cometh, when
ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. (22)
Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the
Jews. (23) But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall
worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship
him. ”
Isn’t this kind of strange that first Jesus says that he came for the house of Israel
then he says now that true worship is not at Jerusalem in Israel. Yet, he came
for Israel. Then, who are Israelites? Romans 9:4 tells us that Israel are those who
are in covenant with God. This means that if you are in Christ then you are
Israel.
Romans 9:31, 32; “But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness,
hath not attained to the law of righteousness. (32) Wherefore? Because they
sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law, For they stumbled
at the stumblingstone;”(the stumblingstone is Christ)
What is Jesus telling us about those sheep? Galatians 3:24,25,28 that they are of
all kinds…Jew, Greek, etc and that they are all over the world. They have lost
who they really are (Romans 9:4, 6, 8). They are Israel now. The law was only
the schoolmaster to school us to bring us to ‘faith.’ We are no longer adopted
but are the ‘seed of Abraham’ just like all others who come to Christ. We went
from law to faith to become the true seed in Christ Jesus.
There is no such thing as a ‘physical’ nation of Israel.
There are extremist Messianic Jews who want to recreate Eretz Israel as it was under the Jewish glory Days of King David. At the other end of the pendulum are those Jews who also agree with you, there should be no temporal Israel. Between those extremes are the majority of Israelites, Secular, not having belief or Faith in the God of Abraham.
For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
Romans 2:28-29
But the scripture has concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
For you are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
And if you be Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Galatians 3:22-29
But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who has warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:
And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
Matthew 3:7-9
He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
But as many as received him, to them he gave POWER TO BECOME THE SONS OF GOD, even to them that believe on his name:
Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
