Tariq Abu Khdeir was beaten during protests following the murder of his cousin Muhammed by Jewish extremists

Ed note–and the only reason he got the sentence that he did is because he was caught on tape beating this boy nearly to death. Had it not been caught on tape, all can be rest assured that Israel and her supporters would have engaged in the typical ‘by way of deception we shall make war’ business, lied through their teeth like they do about everything and the cop would have received a promotion and a raise in pay.

A Jerusalem court on Wednesday sentenced an Israeli Border Police officer who was filmed beating a Palestinian-American teenager during a violent protest in July 2014 to 45 days of community service and a suspended four-month prison term.

Police spokeswoman Luba Samri on Thursday confirmed the unnamed officer’s sentence

While Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court Judge Dana Cohen-Lekach said there was “no need and no justification” for the force used by the officer against Tariq Abu Khdeir, the court took into account the officer’s apology, his lack of a criminal record and his service on behalf of the country during difficult circumstances, Haaretz reported.

State prosecutors had requested a seven-month jail term for the beating of 15-year-old Tariq Abu Khdeir, which drew sharp international condemnation and set off weeks of rioting in the capital.

Abu Khdeir’s attorney Mohammad Mahmoud said the ruling, which came Wednesday, delivered an “extremely light” punishment that “gives (police) a free hand.”

The Tampa, Florida, teenager of Palestinian descent was visiting family in Jerusalem last July when his cousin Mohammed Abu Khdeir was kidnapped and burned to death by Jewish extremists. That murder, which came in retaliation for the kidnapping and murder of three Jewish teens a month before, sparked weeks of rioting in the capital and set off a chain of events that led to Israel’s military operation against Hamas in the Gaza Strip last year.

While police asserted that Abu Khdeir was armed with a slingshot and was actively participating in the riot, he and his family denied direct involvement. The teen was placed under house arrest for nine days before being allowed to return home to the US.

Amateur footage shows the Border Police officer repeatedly kicking and punching the teen after he was already handcuffed on the ground.

Following the conclusion of an internal police investigation, the Justice Ministry in September said the probe concluded that “evidence was found supporting the guilt of the police officer suspected of severe violent crimes.”

The officer signed a plea bargain in which he admitted to the allegations against him, and was criminally charged with assaulting a minor by the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court.

In January, Israel dropped all charges against Abu Khdeir for his alleged participation in the July riot.

  1. Would this have happened now, the kid would be dead, shot by a Jewish Israeli who has been told to murder Palestinian children, and then to throw “drop weapon” namely an old kitchen knife, so this Jewish Israeli child murderer could cry out he was attacked with a knife and he shot the kid in an act of bravery and self defense, then be commanded by his superiors and presented as a hero. Don’t laugh, that is exactly how things happen currently, in the land that has become humanity’s martyr: Palestine, occupied by child murdering psychopaths who even after 70 years of occupation have not managed, and never will, to behave in a manner consistant with common human ethics, morals, laws.. and all these subtle civilizational things that make life between humans possible in a manner different from animals.

  2. Rachel Corrie all over again. Look what Rachel’s family went thru to try and get the murderer
prosecuted, preferably the death sentence. They couldn’t even see what the murderer looked
like. Yes, Germany was right; they are rats.
