What Bergoglio actually stated in the video (only) is, in fact, what the Church has consistently taught, regarding the adherence of the Catholic Faithful not only to the Gospel teachings of Christ but also to the magisterial teachings of Holy Mother Church. Like it or not, that is Catholic doctrines. Again, in listening to the video (and I comprehend Italian), Bergoglio didn’t state anything contrary to Catholic teaching in the video.
Let us be clear, I’m no fan of Bergoglio since most of what he utters is not Catholic.
I completely agree with stlonginus.Pope Francis’ words in the article are taken out of context, and in reality, manifest Catholic in contrast with evangelical teaching regarding a personal and friendly (too much anthropomorphic) relationship with Jesus.
