Former US president Bill Clinton paid tribute on Friday to Anne Frank, the Jewish teenager whose diary entries, published in “Diary of a Young Girl” gave generations an intimate look at life under German occupation.
Saplings from a Chestnut tree in front of Frank’s house in the Netherlands will be planted outside Clinton’s presidential library Little Rock, Arkansas as part of a permanent installation.
The former president urged the audience, which included hundreds of schoolchildren to remember the “wisdom of a 14-year-old girl who in her spirit life is depending on us to redeem the years she could not have.”
Clinton Foundation staff said the saplings will likely spend several weeks in a green house before being planted in order to adjust to the different climate in Little Rock.

Wouldn’t a Willow Tree be more appropriate for Slick Willy’s place, since Willows are notorious for bending over?
Weisel ; “Some stories are true that never happened.”
Clinton ; “I did not have sex with that woman”
Me ; “it is only 9″ because the water is so cold”
Umm… So noble.
Right up there with Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, Tinkerbell and the Tooth Fairy.
CK the mythological characters you reference are Gentile traditions of whimsey ,and beauty.
Ann Frank is the opposite.
Is all aware that Mrs Frank succumbed in a SS hospital where they tried to save her from typhus?
Her entire family survived ….they worked in German Armament factories !
They where in hiding because Mr Frank, who had contracts with the German Whermacht had the hutzpha to cheat them !
Hence, he faced arrest.
They where only found because of being denounced by a fellow Jew !
Ms Frank, did not bother to write that with her ” ball point”, pen invented long after the war.
