It’s a bad state of affairs in Myanmar; but, in all honesty the picture is not Myanmar. That picture is very old. It is Buddhist monks burying Tibetans, during the Red Chinese “liberation” of Tibet circa 1954.
After Burma emerged from a fiercely brutal military dictatorship, it reorganized and stabilized itself as a Buddhist Kingdom. It works for them, and they want to keep it that way.
You failed to mention that a large population immigrating from Bangladesh is also under persecution in this Buddhist Monarchy.
