YNET – A group of over 100 Canadian politicians and business leaders from Ontario arrive in Israel to strengthen the Israel-Canada relationship. The Premier of the Canadian province of Ontario, Kathleen Wynne, arrived in Israel at the head of a delegation of over 100 Canadian politicians and business leaders on Sunday.

Included in the delegation is Ontario Minister of Health and Long-Term Care Hon. Dr. Eric Hoskins, and Ontario Minister of and Development Reza Moridi, amongst others.

Ontario is the most populous province in Canada, and is also home to Toronto, the most populous city in Canada. Ten of the world’s largest tech companies have their research and development centers in the province, and the information technology sector provides over 250,000 jobs.

Teva Pharmaceuticals even has a production facility an hour outside of Toronto, and many Israelis have set up hi tech and med tech companies in the province.

Israel-Canada relations

In a preliminary visit to Canada, Canadian representatives explained to the Israelis present why the relationship between the two countries is so important, and why they want to strengthen it.

“Israel may be small, but there is definitely a market there,” the Canadians said, adding that Israel punches above its weight.

Premier Wynne added that “before I was a politician, I was an educator and worked at a Jewish school. We worked on subjects such as conflict resolution, something which was very important to me, and something which led me into politics.”

One of the prime examples of development and entrepreneurship Ontario has to offer is the Mars Building situated in the heart of Toronto. The building, a former hospital, has been turned into a complex for hi tech medical sciences and information technology. The companies based there have been chosen to receive government support due to their commercial viability.

Earl Miller, a Mars Building representative, explained the rationale behind the Canadian project.

“We provide assistance to companies which want to develop in the bio-tech and info-tech sectors. It’s difficult to commercialize a product, so while the various institutions and companies do the research, we assist with the commercialization.”

Gal Sela of Synaptive Medical Inc which operates in the building is an Israeli who lived most of his life in Canada.

“I started the company with three others in 2012, and today, we’ve grown to 210 employees. We started by dealing with medical physics, and we have seven products which have already been approved for use. One of our products assists with neurosurgery. It’s like a GPS for the brain – forms a map of the brain and tells the surgeon exactly where to operate. We are also focusing on the US market, and our products have already been used in over 700 surgeries.”

  1. I lived in Canada for 16 years. I knew Canadians as super-sensitive on racial issues. Indeed, any hint of “intolerance” — Canadian code for racism — would get you fired from your (probable) government job. Yet Canadian politicians kowtow to the apartheid state of Israel all the time.

  2. I am a Canadian and can attest that the biggest slurs to be tossed at one include: racist, anti semitic and homophobe. No one actually knows the definitions of these words really. To say something about a transgender is translated into homophobe…. totally different situations melted under the same cultural Marxist “melting pot”.

When I grew up in Toronto in the 1950’s there were “areas” where people chose to live amongst their own kind but then they usually worked elsewhere in the city where everyone spoke English. There was the Hungarian area, the Polish area, the Portuguese, Hungarian, Jewish, Italian, Greek, West Indian areas. There was a “little India” grew up in later years. And three Chinese areas. A common bank sign would boast that one could be served in up to 90 languages of one’s choice. That is how I lived. Everyone was satisfied that they could walk down their street and greet their old Babushkas in their mother tongue and enjoy the smells of good home cooking that was familiar to them. The city was safe and very clean, “Toronto the good”.

NO ONE SPOKE OF RACE. It wasn’t an issue. As in Kensington Market, Over the decades it was inhabited by various populations of immigrants who started there then moved up and out only to be replaced by another culture. But then, these were primarily European cultures with something in common ~ Christianity. (Except for the Jews of course)

Most people had a sense of humour and accepted the status quo. All in all, I suppose Toronto was a model for “integration”.

Then things changed and immigration began to bring in many more third worlders. I saw some pristine areas where they were congregated deteriorate. Within years an entire set of apartment complexes became disgustingly littered, messy, unkempt over the years. These folks would come and they did not share Western values of respect for their surroundings. I watched this immigration take place over the years. Now many of these people, including a family I was involved with, they integrated fully into Canadian life and moved out into new homes as quickly as possible and done beautifully here in our country. But they are the minority. And they do not mix with other races in matters of the flesh.

I left Toronto in a case of what is now known as “white flight” 35 years ago… not knowing that is what it was to be. But clearly it was because I wanted to raise my babies in an environment I understood and was comfortable in. Someone once said to me … in a derogatory tone… “Well you raised them White”….. as if it was a bad thing! If one does not speak GLOWINGLY of racial integration in Canada now, now matter what the mix, you are racist. Sorta like, if you even QUESTION a transgender’s right to paid surgeries over someone’s need for hip surgery, you are a homophobe.

Canadians are Communist and haven’t got a clue ….. Trudeau was never supposed to be any more hopey changey than Obama was. He rode in on the immigration/gender dysphoria/marijuana vote.
