Was there really a coup attempt? Maduro could be fabricating this in order to prevent a repeat of last year’s deadly protests against his government. Or…it could be real.
Over the next few days the corporate media outlets in Europe and North America will all claim that Maduro is lying about the coup attempt.
The hotbed of last February’s protests was San Cristobal, a city near the Colombian border. Today there were new protests in San Cristobal. Police and National Guard soldiers clashed with demonstrators who threw Molotov cocktails.
In Caracas, masked students blocked an avenue with burning trash. They threw rocks at police in a confrontation that lasted until dusk.
There were also pro-government demonstrations, much larger than the anti-government ones.
Last February (2014) Venezuela’s government arrested Leopoldo Lopez for leading deadly protests against the government. Mr. Lopez has been held in a military-run prison since then. Yesterday his wife, Lilian Tintori. met with U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden at the White House. Lopez’ wife also met in Washington with OAS Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza as part of a wider effort to convince regional leaders to abandon the Maduro government ahead of a Summit of the Americas meeting to be held in Panama City.
(The USA sponsors Summit of the Americas meetings every three or four years. It is a place for Latin American politicians to find out what the USA will bribe them with if the politicians crush their own peoples, and maintain a plutocracy. The next summit will be 10 and 11 April 2015 in Panama City.)
According to Maduro, Washington had bought the loyalty of Air Force officials, offering them money and visas to use planes like the one seen below. The planes were to bomb Mr. Maduro, bomb the Miraflores presidential palace, bomb the state-run TeleSur television station, bomb the Ministry of Defense, and bomb the Ministry of Interior, plus other targets. Maduro suggested that the attack planes would fly in from abroad, perhaps from neighboring Colombia, whose government is a staunch ally of the USA.
Maduro said that conspiring military officials planned to film a general who is in jail for the previous scheme, and then broadcast the interview after the aerial attacks.
Is any of this true? We don’t yet know.

And the terrorist CIA keeps doing it in Venezuela, Bush tried to overthrow Hugo Chavez and the plot was thwarted and there are videos kept by Chavez that show the hands of the CIA/Israel.

Konrad, there is too much going on right now with this coup. I thought the same thing you did, but there is more news on this. It broke out in the Spanish network and then translated to their English sister site. I will keep an eye on it.

Of course, even if it were fake, I would say bravo to Maduro. I want him to get tougher with the oligarchs.
And bravo to the crowds who came out in the pouring rain yesterday to march in defense of the government.

If they have proof of US involvement ,could they not persecute charges against them ?I don’t know how ,but only if this could be possible in order to expose the international interference .can’t believe the persistent belligerence of the US against other nations that don’t tow the US line and bend the knee .
