A Passover Hagaddah handed out to children in a municipal kindergarten in the northern town of Kiryat Tivon includes a picture of the Western Wall without the Dome of the Rock behind it.

Ofir Spiegler ran across the picture when his daughter brought the Hagaddah home before the Passover vacation. He discovered that the page which says “Next year in a rebuilt Jerusalem” includes a picture of the Western Wall with the Temple Mount and trees behind it. The Dome of the Rock, a Muslim mosque famous for its large golden dome, is nowhere to be seen.

As a parent, it shocks me that such a thing is distributed in the public education system,” he said.

His daughter’s kindergarten, Gan Hatzav, is a secular kindergarten supervised by the local council and Education Ministry.

On Saturday, Spiegler posted the picture on his Facebook page. Some people commented that the picture had been taken from an angle in which the Dome of the Rock cannot be seen, while others posted photos indicating that the picture had been digitally altered.

“This isn’t the kind of education I would like my children to receive,” Spiegler told Ynet. “I turned to the council head, David Ariely, and asked him to check who approved the booklet’s distribution and whether it was coordinated with the council or with other bodies.”

This isn’t the first time that the Al-Aqsa Mosque is erased from publications. In several cases in the past, the Dome of the Rock was erased from pictures of the Western Wall in religious booklets, evoking harsh responses. The shrine, which was initially completed in 691 CE, serves as a symbol of Arab nationality.

The Haggadah was produced for the Kiryat Tivon kindergarten by the Ritram Didact company from Kibbutz Mishmarot, which was unavailable for comment.

The Kiryat Tivon Council offered the following response: “We are unaware of the incident. The matter will be looked into with all due seriousness by all the relevant sources in the local council’s education department and the kindergarten teacher.”

Here is the majestic Dome of the Rock facing the glorious Russian Orthodox Church!

  1. They have defaced it urinated in it said there was important relics under it and brought in archaeologists to undermine it said they were blowing up rocks nearby to try to make it collapse and yet people are outraged if somebody defaces a synagogue round the World but no mention in the media of the plotting to pull down the Dome on the Rock -The Media who owns you baby ??

  2. The more important mosque is masjud al Alqsa but they also want the removal of the Dome of the Rock.

Was looking at the Prophet’s end times sayings and need to highlight for Muslims why they should nt fall for the lure of sectarianism.

    Volume 9, Book 88, Number 201:
    Narrated Jarir:
The Prophet said to me during Hajjat-al-Wada’, “Let the people keep quiet and listen.” Then he said (addressing the people), “Beware! Do not renegade as disbelievers after me by striking (cutting) the necks of one another.”

    Volume 9, Book 88, Number 202:
    Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah’s Apostle said, “There will be afflictions (in the near future) during which a sitting person will be better than a standing one, and the standing one will be better than the walking one, and the walking one will be better than the running one, and whoever will expose himself to these afflictions, they will destroy him. So whoever can find a place of protection or refuge from them, should take shelter in it.”

    Volume 9, Book 88, Number 206:
    Narrated Hudhaifa bin Al-Yaman:
The people used to ask Allah’s Apostle about the good but I used to ask him about the evil lest I should be overtaken by them. So I said, “O Allah’s Apostle! We were living in ignorance and in an (extremely) worst atmosphere, then Allah brought to us this good (i.e., Islam); will there be any evil after this good?” He said, “Yes.” I said, ‘Will there be any good after that evil?” He replied, “Yes, but it will be tainted (not pure.)” I asked, “What will be its taint?” He replied, “(There will be) some people who will guide others not according to my tradition? You will approve of some of their deeds and disapprove of some others.” I asked, “Will there be any evil after that good?” He replied, “Yes, (there will be) some people calling at the gates of the (Hell) Fire, and whoever will respond to their call, will be thrown by them into the (Hell) Fire.” I said, “O Allah s Apostle! Will you describe them to us?” He said, “They will be from our own people and will speak our language.” I said, “What do you order me to do if such a state should take place in my life?” He said, “Stick to the group of Muslims and their Imam (ruler).” I said, “If there is neither a group of Muslims nor an Imam (ruler)?” He said, “Then turn away from all those sects even if you were to bite (eat) the roots of a tree till death overtakes you while you are in that state.”

    Take home message;
    1. Do not kill your brethren
    2. Do not kill based on sectarianism
    3. leave those who are engaging in these hellish actions.
    4. Do not be part of the problem by spreading hatred

Here is an interesting saying in praise of the Sham (levant) and Yemen (both blessed) and the najd ( area in Saudi, not blessed)

    Volume 9, Book 88, Number 214:
    Narrated Ibn ‘Umar:
The Prophet said, “O Allah! Bestow Your blessings on our Sham! O Allah! Bestow Your blessings on our Yemen.” The People said, “And also on our Najd.” He said, “O Allah! Bestow Your blessings on our Sham (north)! O Allah! Bestow Your blessings on our Yemen.” The people said, “O Allah’s Apostle! And also on our Najd.” I think the third time the Prophet said, “There (in Najd) is the place of earthquakes and afflictions and from there comes out the side of the head of Satan.”

  3. The hilltop in East Jerusalem houses three Muslim era buildings; Al-Aqsa Mosque, the third most sacred Islamic shrine after Ka’aba in Makkah and the Prophet’s burial-place in Medinnah – the Dome of Rock which houses the rock from which the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) began his journey to meet Allah on Seventh Heaven – and the tiny Umar Mosque where Caliph lead the prayer in open instead of accepting Archbishop’s invitation to pray in the Church of Holy Scripture.

The so-called Wailing Wall or the Temple of Mount never exited on that hilltop. It’s all part of a Roman fortress. The Temple was located a few kilometers away from the fortress.

  4. Sadly there are people like this as my ex fiancé who was Israeli really was tolerant towards Palestinians but I knew was just a face. I am an Arab weither Jewish Christian or Muslim such hatred is poison and if only there was compassion is everyone’s hearts at Least for peace. I pray one day bazrt Hashem but looking unlikely though I have never been Israel because of lack of time for travel witnessing the conflict myself would give a greater insight into this conflict puzzle
