Methinks this is bound to fail. However, what is said about the use of such covering, according to the Quran, is true. I was told that several times during the few years I wore the scarf by Muslim women, some of whom wore scarf, some not.
This ban does not include the beautiful hijab as has been attempted in Europe and here in Canada for licenses, passports, etc. When people fuss about removing the scarf for these documents or court appearances, personally, I have little tolerance for their arguments because I have known it was not demanded in the Book. Jewish women in Israel, of some sects, cover up more than their Muslim counterparts.
Maybe the Egyptian people need to be riled up again? Maybe Sisi, a military not religious type man, is listening to Israel? A few decades ago female circumcision was outlawed in Egypt as well. At the time, a young medical student friend of mine in Cairo knew full well what type of woman he wished to marry and was fully in favour of that law.
There will be backlash. Just a lil more divide n conquer. I really do not understand … to me Sisi is the Egyptian equivalent of Merkel, slave to Israel and doing a lot of plain nasty ‘inexplicable” things including to his own people.
wOW, a whole hour writing comments and not a one about the Donald. LOL.
With the disclaimer that I know nothing about the sartorial dicta of the Quran I would only venture to say that it is not implausible that the burqua (sp?) that covers all but a woman’s eyes might not be Islamic in origin but a borrowing from judaism. On the issue of hospitals I have to agree with banning it for simple and blatantly obvious reasons of hygiene. I had the pleasant opportunity of berating a Jewish woman last year when she attempted to bathe in a swimming pool dressed in pants and an overskirt: clothes that she had worn outside, in the street, and sweated in, and surely full of dust. She mewled that her religion prohibits her, blah, blah. I told her to go to a pool where people of her religion bathe. Furthermore I told her that the rules of swimming pool use specifically demand that you do not cover your body to avoid people with hidden sores entering the pool. She left FUMING.
