ed note–Doubtless (and sad to say) that the ‘quiet part’ that needs to be said out loud in this story more than likely will get no airing whatsoever other than on this humble little informational endeavor, so here it goes ladies and Gentile-men–
Firsto, let it be understood that both the ICC and the ICJ, as impressive and ‘authoritative’ sounding as their names may be, are in reality nothing more than paper tigers of sorts. Neither of these entities are ‘sovereigns’ in the sense that they possess a police force or other coercive measures by which their judgments and decrees can be enforced. They are totally dependent upon various agreements set up with truly sovereign nations who–IF they choose to do so–can be requested to put the badges and guns into service in putting people in handcuffs and throwing them into jail.
What both the ICC and the ICJ do possess however is the legitimacy of appearance. They dress like judges, operate their business like a court, and yes, in terms of public relations, this does have an effect.
Plus, you never know, one of the leaders of one of the countries that signed onto the treaties establishing the ICC and ICJ might, JUST MIGHT, get a ‘wild hair’ and decide to follow through on arrest warrants issued against the Pirates of Judea whose mugshots appear on posters plastered around town.
Now, the really important part of this story actually doesn’t deal with the ICC and ICJ, but rather with the fact that–as the reader will find out in the story below–the Jewish State devoted the FULL EXTENT of its intelligence resources–which are nothing short of considerable–towards finding out what was being said by whom and in what context as it all relates to any possible ‘legal’ action that may be brought by either one of these entities which–as we already stated–really have no power whatsoever, other than to sway public opinion.
And now we come forward to today, 8 months into the Genocide in Gaza that began as a result of ‘intelligence failures’ on the part of the very same entities listed in this story–Mossad, Shin Bet, Unit 8200, etc, etc, etc.
So the Jewish State was fully committed to utilizing her considerable intelligence resources to listening in on what was being said at the ICC and ICJ, where really nothing more substantive was at stake other than a possibly bruised reputation, but somehow, all the intelligence gathered by Mossad, Shin Bet, and 8200 related to the attacks taking place on Oct. 7th were of little consequence? A supposed invading army of over 3,000 armed men rampaging throughout southern Israel for as much as 6 hours, and yet we are all supposed to believe that THIS caught Israel ‘by surprise’, when she was willing to spend considerable resources spying on the ICJ and ICC that pose no tangible danger whatsoever?
In a word, ‘please…’
At this point, the only people who continue to invest themselves in the ‘excuse’ given by Israel that Oct. 7th was a ‘complete surprise’ are either those who–
1. Have everything to gain and nothing to lose by this remaining the dominant narrative, meaning Israel herself, who has based the justification for all the Genocide she has committed since then on the pretense that she was ‘sucker-punched’ and that therefore she possesses the absolute right of ‘defending’ herself,
And–
2. Those types who so desperately want to see a victory for the underdog that they are willing to believe what the Jewish State says about the events of that day, and this despite the fact that the only ‘proof’ of the veracity of these claims originated in the lying brain and the lying mouth of Benjamin Netanyahu himself.
Times of Israel
Israel is said to have led an almost decade-long ‘war’ against the International Criminal Court’s intention to issue arrest warrants against its leaders, dedicating immense intelligence and diplomatic efforts to finding out the court’s plans and attempting to thwart them via multiple channels and tactics, The Guardian reports.
The British outlet — in cooperation with Israeli-Palestinian publication +972 Magazine and Hebrew-language outlet Local Call — published some of the alleged details in a separate story early today, asserting that former Mossad chief Yossi Cohen had engaged in ‘threats and intimidation’ in an attempt to stop former ICC chief prosecutor Fatou Bensouda from opening a war crimes investigation into Israel.
In a follow-up story, The Guardian claims that this was just one element in a nine-year attempt to dissuade Bensouda and her successor Karim Khan from prosecuting Israeli leaders, which began in 2015 and was still being waged as recently as last month.
Citing ‘more than two dozen current and former Israeli intelligence officers and government officials, senior ICC figures, diplomats and lawyers’ familiar with the matter, the report says that alongside the Mossad spy agency, the intelligence-gathering efforts included the Shin Bet security service, the Israel Defense Forces’s Military Intelligence Directorate and its signal intelligence branch, Unit 8200.
One of the missions was allegedly to find out which specific cases could form part of a future ICC investigation, in order to preemptively open Israeli probes into them and thus be able to claim there is no ground for The Hague to also investigate them due to a principle known as ‘complementarity’.
The report says that when Khan became prosecutor in 2021, Israel was initially optimistic as the Israeli-Palestinian probe appeared to have been put on the back burner, but that this changed when Khan’s tone on the ongoing Israel-Hamas war changed drastically in February of this year.
Intelligence agencies reportedly renewed their efforts to intercept material related to the ICC’s probe, and last month, tapped into a call between two Palestinian politicians in which one said Khan had indicated a request for arrest warrants could be imminent, though the US was pressuring him against it.
One former Israeli intelligence official is quoted as alleging that ‘the entire military and political establishment’ viewed this ‘as a war that had to be waged, and one that Israel needed to be defended against. It was described in military terms.’
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is said to have been ‘obsessed’ with information on the matter, which was sent by intel bodies to his national security advisers, as well to the Justice Ministry, Foreign Ministry and Strategic Affairs Ministry.
The story quotes Netanyahu’s office as commenting that the alleged details are ‘replete with many false and unfounded allegations meant to hurt the State of Israel.’
A spokesperson for the IDF tells the outlet: ‘The IDF did not and does not conduct surveillance or other intelligence operations against the ICC.’
