It is appropriate he is starting off in Jewyork City . This is where you have to be very careful in your judgement . While at an outward glance the Orthodox Jews criticise Nutteryahu and even say –Yes the Messiah has not come yet so we should be sharing and living alongside Palestinians there is a big problem . This encounter will not be a polemic, as some might think. In the Wandering Who? Gilad explained that there are 3 categories of Jews:
“1. Those who follow Judaism
2. Those who regard themselves as human beings that happen to be of Jewish origin

The fact that the yeshiva boys much prefer davening than enlisting in the army is not necessarily a proof of peacefulness but of cowardice and embracing the comfortable status of being the parasites’ parasites.
The fact that Judaism is the underpinning of Jewish supremacism should not need demonstrating, and ample quotes of rabbinical statements from Maimonides down are plentiful. The so-called Torah Jews may, as Duncan notes, demonstrate against “zionism” and advocate that the Jews lie low until “moshiach” shows up but they are flaming Jewish supremacists, category #3.
This will be Gilad’s second encounter with the rabbi he describes as a “prominent thinker.” The rabbi, and by extension all “Jewish Orthodoxy,” made a great impression on him the first time, and not only because he wanted to talk respectfully about The Wandering Who which the despised “progressives” misquoted and attacked:

He rightly sees himself and his community as victims of ‘identity theft.’ At a certain stage in recent Jewish history, a group of people (secular assimilated Jews) rebranded themselves as ‘the Jews’ at the expense of those who have been Jews and recognised as such throughout their long history (Torah Jews).”
See, the bad, “secularly assimilated Jews,” gave the “principled and ethical” Jews a bad name…. This is nothing but another “Not in My Name” adorned with tzit-tzit and wearing two hats one on top of the other.

As far as this rabbi is concerned, what I hear in his statements is FEAR — fear that Netanyahu has truthfully exposed by his arrogant, Sharonesque strutting, the fact that American or any other world Jews do NOT for the most part consider themselves citizens of their own countries but do and should act as agents of the foreign power which is Israel. It is his fear that this is not “good for the Jews” that motivates him, and the desire to put the smoke back in the chimney. The old “zionism is not judaism” lie.
