  1. “the word migrant to describe them is itself designed to treat them as people who somehow don’t have the right to be in countries such as Britain.”
Wrong-headed argument. No, according to laws they don’t have the right to be in countries on whose beaches they wash up. But THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE IN THEIR OWN COUNTRIES AND BE LEFT IN PEACE, NOT BOMBED, NOT HAVE THEIR HOMES, THEIR COUNTRIES DEVASTATED. There were no Libyan and Syrian refugees before the Jewish wars that destroyed those countries. Libya had a flourishing economy and a high standard of living; it also had a better health care system than the US.
They have the right to demand AND receive compensations sufficient to rebuild their countries, from the perpetrators of the war crimes and crimes against humanity: USrael, UK, France, Turkey and the Gulf emirates
They should not receive charity but what is their due.
