In election rally, president boasts he told King Salman ‘you have to pay for your military,’ amid pressure to lower oil prices
ed note–Keep in mind that having now set this precedent of not only making subordinate countries pay for the military assistance that the US provides for them, but equally important, reminding subordinate countries just who is the dog and who is the tail, that Trump could use this same template–along with what has just taken place with the likely-murder of the journalist Jamal Khashoggi right now being blamed on the Saudi government–in applying similar measures to Israel, a notion not that far-fetched when recalling that not only did Trump propose that very same idea–of making Israel repay the billion$ which the US has given her–and even referenced the magical ‘3 billion’ number recently in calling for cuts in foreign aid.

US President Donald Trump said Tuesday night that Saudi Arabia’s king “might not be there for two weeks” without US military support, as he sought to pressure the close American ally over rising oil prices.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Mississippi, Trump said: “I love the king, King Salman, but I said, ‘King, we’re protecting you. You might not be there for two weeks without us. You have to pay for your military, you have to pay.’”
Trump didn’t elaborate on when he spoke to the king.
Trump and King Salman last shared a reported telephone call on Saturday, discussing global crude oil prices amid the American leader’s call for OPEC to bring down energy prices.
The state-run Saudi Press Agency reported the call, saying “the efforts to maintain supplies to ensure the stability of the oil market and ensure the growth of the global economy” were discussed by the two leaders.
US officials acknowledged the call at the time, but offered no details.
Trump, facing political pressure at home, has been calling on OPEC and allies like Saudi Arabia to boost their production to lower global crude oil prices.
Benchmark Brent crude oil is near $85 a barrel — a four-year high — and analysts say it could reach $100 as US sanctions on Iran resume in November. US gasoline prices are up ahead of November midterm elections.

President Trump was interviewed via telephone last night (Oct. 11, 2018) on the Shannon Bream show on Fox and he stated clearly that our “business” with SA (meaning the military hardware they’re buying from the U.S.) will preclude us from cutting ties with SA. It is to be determined what Trump’s rhetoric and bluster regarding Saudi,of late, actually mean. It may only mean that Trump wants Saudi oil production increased and prices lowered. But, with Trump, there often seems to be more than what he says in front of the cameras.
I can say that there is not one “news” item (mainstream, Sputnik, or otherwise) that I’ve read and not one youtube video I’ve seen, that mentions that Jamal Khashoggi, the WaPo “journalist” who is now feared dead, is related to Adnan Khashoggi, who was a notorious Saudi arms dealer/criminal.
So that tells me that this whole cockamamee story is cover for something else that went down. Was Jamal Khashoggi a double agent? Did the Saudis know Jamal Khashoggi was feeding the U.S. intel? Maybe. How the Saudis got him to willingly enter a Saudi consulate is unknown.
