“If 100,000 French people of Spanish origin were to leave, I would never say that France is not France anymore. But if 100,000 Jews leave, France will no longer be France. The French Republic will be judged a failure”, Manuel Valls, France PM.

I24NEWS – A new Jewish cultural center costing approximately $11 million is set to be constructed in Paris, the city’s mayor has announced, according the Liberation daily.
The European Center for Judaism, which is set to open in 2017, will be built in northern Paris, according to an announcement on Sunday by Mayor Anne Hidalgo and Joel Mergui, the president of the oldest existing Jewish organization in France.
“I wouldn’t want us to leave for the summer vacation and close this especially tragic year for France and for the Jewish community without being able to provide a note of hope,” Mergui told Liberation. He said the center will operate from “a large building situated in an area of Paris where a large Jewish community has developed.”
According to Liberation, the institution will feature conference halls, a synagogue, exposition space and offices.
The announcement of the new center comes at a time when Jews in France have reported an increase anti-Semitic incidents in the wake of the jihadist killing spree in January that culminated in the attack on the offices of satirical publication Charlie Hebdo and a deadly hostage standoff at a Jewish grocery store.
Hundreds of French Jews have over the past few months attended Jewish Agency events providing information regarding immigration to Israel.
After the deadly attacks in Paris, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on French Jews to move to Israel. “To all the Jews of France, all the Jews of Europe, I would like to say that Israel is not just the place in whose direction you pray, the state of Israel is your home,” Netanyahu said.
But French Prime Minister Manuel Vals expressed different sentiments altogether.
“If 100,000 French people of Spanish origin were to leave, I would never say that France is not France anymore. But if 100,000 Jews leave, France will no longer be France. The French Republic will be judged a failure,” Valls said ahead of a memorial rally in honor of those killed in France.
About 20,000 French Jews have left for Israel since 2012.

On Thursday, Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre was keynote speaker at a Jewish conference at the City Hall to tackle the so-called “radicalization of Muslims”.
“We have to call a spade a spade. We have to denounce antisemitism and understand that clearly something is going on and we must be there to fight it,” Denis Coderre told his smiling Jewish audience.
The conference was attended by leaders from French pro-Israel Jewish Lobby CRIF, French B’nai B’rith, Canadian Jewish Lobby, the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) and Jewish member of Parliament Irwin Cotler, a former cabinet minister and attorney-general.
Irwin Cotler attended a high level conference in Herzliya, Israel in September 2006 in which he advised army leaders how to counter the media and human rights organizations, academia and public opinion after Jewish army’s defeat in Lebanon in Summer 2006. The video of his speech has been removed from Google. The moron also claims that he was poisoned while visiting Russia in 2006.

I’ll bet French people wish the rest would get the hell out too! 20,000 less jews is a good start, however.
