In an interview with Time Magazine, President Trump said that if it weren’t for him, Israel and Netanyahu would never have stopped and the killing would have gone on ‘for years’.
‘You know, I stopped him, because he would have just kept going. It would have gone on for years. It would have gone on for years, and I stopped him, and everybody came together when I stopped him, and it was amazing.’
Trump also said on the Gaza ceasefire: ‘I said to Netanyahu, ‘You can’t fight the world. You can fight individual battles, and the whole world’s against you, and Israel is a very small place compared to the world.’
The President also called Israel’s attempted strike on Hamas leaders in Qatar a ‘terrible mistake’, but said it created momentum towards the current deal.
‘When he made that one tactical mistake, the one on Qatar, this was one of the things that brought us all together, because it was so out of joint that it had to be done.’
