Putin is simply supporting Russia’s long term Ally Syria ,and well within his nations rights.
TgexWest backing rebels of any stripe in an armed effort to overthrow a sovereign state are not.
I am however extremely dismayed by Putin’s very,very bad analogy to WW 2 on this.
That was a war between sovereign nations, and not proxies.
As a devout Christian and Russian Nationalist ,he should not use this. Does he see himself on the side of Stalin ?
