Interesting, had this bomb been detonated i wonder what the rest of the world would have thought about it?
What i mean is would the Israelis own up to setting off the device to scare the Arabs or would they have then fabricated evidence required to blamed it on somebody else? Makes it all the more important to send the USS Liberty to the bottom of the Mediterranean.

In the 1973 Yom Kippur War, Arab forces were overwhelming Israeli forces and Prime Minister Golda Meir authorized a nuclear alert and ordered 13 atomic bombs be readied for use by missiles and aircraft. The Israeli Ambassador warned President Nixon of “very serious conclusions” if the United States did not airlift supplies. Nixon complied. This is seen by some commentators on the subject as the first threat of the use of the Samson Option.
Israel started the war; it was pre-emptive. The Arabs were not going to attack. So if Israel’s attack failed, they would’ve used nukes. Does anyone today doubt Israel is a nuclear rogue state?
