It is sad. I am not necessarily a supporter of the brotherhood, but there are problems when I have police show up to my apartment because I am white with a big beard so they automatically assume I am daesh coming to do dastardly things in Egypt. Restaurant waiters and even taxi drivers ask me, “Daesh?” It gets old having to try and explain in my broken Arabic that I am here to learn how wrong they are for even asking something so ridiculously idiotic. Brainwashing here is like in the US, where a redneck at a gas station would ask a brown skinned bearded man, ‘Hey are you one of them terrorrists?” All the while both sides here in Egypt are doing bad things, and the only time they come together in is Coffee shops and the soccer games are on.
…exaplain, in my broken arabic that I am here to learn, … (forgot the commas)
