THIRD PALESTINIAN DEATH IN A WEEK (RIP)

YNET – A Palestinian suspected of weapons trafficking died Monday morning in Qalandiya near Ramallah after being shot in the leg and falling from a roof with Israeli forces in hot pursuit.

Subsequently identified as 18-year-old Muhammed Abu Latifa, the Palestinian was the third killed during incidents involving Israeli forces over the past week.

Soldiers with the Yamas anti-terrorist unit entered the refugee camp to arrest Abu Latifa who the IDF said responded violently and was shot in the leg. The Palestinian then fled on foot, leaping from roof to roof, eventually falling to his death. No soldiers were wounded in the encouter.

Another arrest operation in Beit Ummar led to the death of 53-year-old Falah Abu Maria last Wednesday night. Conflicting reports painted a vague picture of Abu Maria’s death.

The IDF claimed that soldiers encountered resistance when entering the home of a wanted suspect, and Abu Maria was killed in retaliatory fire. Palestinians said that Abu Maria had been trying to protect his children.

A third Palestinian, 21-year-old Muhammad Ahmad Alawneh, was shot in the chest by security forces on Tuesday during clashes that erupted in the wake of an arrest operation in Burkin near Jenin.

Alawneh had reported picked up a stone to throw at Israeli forces when he was shot and killed.

In a separate incident, also on Wednesday, an eight-year-old Palestinian boy was caught throwing rocks at Israel Border Police in the cemetary on Jerusalem’s Mount of Olives. The boy’s parents were brought to the scene and the child was handed over to them.
