Ed Note–Yours truly, shaking hands with former Iranian President Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Tehran and giving him a copy of the recent Persian language translation of Mike Piper’s book The New Jerusalem for which I wrote the introduction.

When it was my turn to address him, I refused to do so while seated, telling him that my respect for him demands me standing, and he responded by saying that if I insist upon standing for him that he insisted on standing for me, which he did, and then everyone else stood.

When I gave him the copy of Mike’s book I told him that Mike was one of his greatest admirers and that he would want Dr. Ahmadenijad to have it. I signed the book for Mike in his absence along with my own signature, along with a few words which I know Mike would have wanted inscribed to Dr. Ahmadinejad. Dr. Ahmadinajad remembered Mike, put his hand on my shoulder, looked me in the eyes and said ‘God bless this great man, may he rest in peace’.

I will be giving a podcast update on this important trip as soon as I have recovered from what has been a long and difficult trip, and my personal thanks to all the very capable and dedicated editors who took care of things on the website for me while I was gone.

  1. WOW…to be surrounded by people you can actually respect, look up to, and honor as the venerable statesman, Mahmoud Ahmadinijad, must have been like visiting heaven, like pinching yourself to prove this isn’t a dream. The look of goodwill on everyone’s face was touching and heart-warming.
Iran and its leaders aren’t perfect, no one is, but they strive for higher ideals with a more nobler vision of life on earth than the base and degraded life we, in the West, are exposed to.
Congratulations Mark for making this trip. We all can’t wait to hear all about it!

  2. I am so proud and honored to call Mark Glenn my friend.
