  1. No big deal. In November 2013, speaking with South African news agency (SAPA), South Africa’s foreign minister, Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, equated the Zionist regime with the former South African apartheid regime.

“The Palestinians’ struggle is our struggle,” Ms Maite Nkoana-Mashabane said. “The last time I saw the map of Palestine, I could not sleep.”

To show a sign of solidarity with the Palestinians, the minister said that her colleagues in the South African Ministerial Council would not visit Israel. But she affirmed that her country had not severed relations with the Zionist entity.

The minister also said that the leading Israeli lobby in her country knows that there are no high level contacts with Israel. The Jewish Board of Deputies “knows why our ministers are not going to Israel.”

  2. In the comment section of the original publication of this piece someone actually wrote that if Abbas would spend money on airports instead of Hamas Palestine could invite him direct but meanwhile Israel has full rights to defend itself. Besides, the guy was anti semitic being from SA.
