The former porn mega-star Jenna Jameson is converting to Judaism, she confirmed to her fans on Twitter.

Jameson is one of the more famous names in the industry. She is engaged to the Israeli diamond merchant Lior Bitton, who is based in Los Angeles.

Over the last several months, she said, she has been enthused by kosher cooking and has been regularly preparing Shabbat dinners, sharing some of her creations on social media.

She has been corresponding with YesThatsKosher.com writer Dani Klein and reading up on recipes from Jamie Geller’s Joy of Kosher, she said.

Although she hasn’t formally announced she’s converting, on Tuesday, when a fan tweeted, “you got the lingo down. You should really blog your conversion journey,” she responded that it was “a lovely idea!”

Jameson’s career started in 1993, and she formally announced her retirement from pornography in 2008.

She has said in the past she was a devout Catholic, telling Larry King in 2013 that she was “very religious.”

“I think that we’ve come a long way religiously,” she said. “I don’t think that you have to take the Bible literally… And I love being able to teach my children what it means to just believe and have the strength of faith… I’ve always been extremely Catholic. My father was Catholic, and he brought me up that way,” she said at the time.

The reaction from Jewish Twitter users and her fans has been a blend of excitement and shock, with many asking how long she had been engaged in Jewish cuisine.

Bitton, the fiancé, is known more for insurance fraud than for his business achievements.

In 2010, he was convicted of falsely reporting the theft of a 4.21-carat diamond from his Pacific Diamonds and Gems store, which he went on to try to flip in a sale in Israel after having collected $100,000 in his insurance claim. The fraud was discovered when the buyer went to have the diamond appraised.
