Cantors the singing of hymns predates both Christianity and Islam. This presentation of religious verses was/is used in Zoroastrianism, the ‘Gathas’ in old Avestan, part of the Aryan (Indo-European) group of languages. And possible even before. But I don’t know how close the melodic forms actually resemble those of the Abrahamic religion.
@ Tony: Thank you. That was a particularly thoughtful and unifying Editor’s Note — to see the similarity in the ‘solemnness’. I agree, in that every soul in trouble, when they cry out to their Creator for Love, Mercy and Deliverance, will sound the same. It’s the Melody of the heart more than the Lyric of the utterance. 🙂
If the Cantor was chanting in Aramaic (a verse that was originally spoken directly by Jesus (pbuh), and not by the other apostles), then it will sound close to Arabic recitation. Which makes me remember how I always said that if all true Christians adopted the Aramaic Bible over the Latin one, then the world would have been a VERY different place today than what it has become.
I played the first video for my Arab Muslim girlfriend, and she started to sing along with it. I then played the 2nd video for her, and she did the same. She said these were both thanks and praises to God from the Arab language and culture. She also said, “that woman is not ‘Christian’, she is majnoona(crazy).
I watched that little video of her talk on Monster drink. Monster is a product of Coca Cola, great supporter of the Jewish State and Zionism in general. She speaks of satan and satanism and christianity and the markings on the can. Yes, I can get into the symbolism aspect of what she refers to; such stuff fascinates me. But she never carries it to the logical Jewish conclusion! Would her head crack trying to process that concept?
I have this feeling that the Z- boys are the ones behind ‘pushing’ sharia law. It’s the tactic of the ‘them’ behind it but Muslims take the heat. Deception…and fanning those flames.
