Lapid said he was not just stating this in hindsight. ‘I was not the only one. In the months leading up to the disaster, the Prime Minister and the Cabinet ministers received more and more evidence from within the terrorist organizations that they were waiting for such a moment.’

‘The government was informed of Hamas’s intentions,’ Yesh Atid chairman Yair Lapid told a press conference, where he ‘delivered for the first time’ his version of the chain of events that occurred on October 7 on Thursday morning.

‘It was clear what they wanted. Here, I want to refute the statement that is made time and time again by the current government that, somehow, the political echelon was not aware that Hamas was not deterred. It was indeed informed. I was informed, and the intelligence material I saw was, of course, also seen by the Prime Minister and ministers of the Cabinet.’

Lapid said he was not just stating this in hindsight. ‘I was not the only one. In the months leading up to the disaster, the Prime Minister and the Cabinet ministers received more and more evidence from within the terrorist organizations that they were waiting for such a moment.’

He added that on August 21, 2023, he was in a security briefing with the prime minister when military advisor Major General Avi Gil reported warming in all of the proxy sectors – the Iranians, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and the terrorist organizations in Gaza and Judea and Samaria.

‘While I thought this was extraordinary information, the Prime Minister seemed bored and indifferent to the subject and did not comment on it.’

In the two weeks following this, Lapid said he read multiple intelligence reports, and met with the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee of the Knesset.

Lapid claimed that, as a former prime minister and head of the opposition and having clearance from Member of Knesset Yuli Edelstein, he had access to the same intelligence materials that the members of the subcommittee on intelligence and the secret services received.

‘I was presented with the intelligence material at the highest classification level. Its meaning was resoundingly clear: Israel is at a particularly high-risk level.’

Lapid continued by saying that on September 18, 2023, he noticed further escalation in the intelligence reports which to him were ‘equivocal.’

‘Israeli deterrence had dramatically eroded, and our enemies believed they had a rare opportunity to strike.’

‘There is no excuse for this; it cannot be justified.’

Speaking about the prime minister, Lapid said that while he could not explain exactly why Netanyahu did not act on the dossiers, he could say that ‘the most critical duty of a Prime Minister is to halt everything when faced with such intelligence and mobilize the entire system to stop the threat.’

‘The first duty of a Prime Minister in Israel is to prevent the death of citizens,’ he added.

Lapid, who has publicly traded barbs with Netanyahu in recent months, has been critical of the government’s slowness to make a deal with Hamas to release the hostages.

  1. ‘LIHOP’

If you don’t know what this is, it’s time you learned. Perhaps even MIHOP, since Israel funds Hamas so that Israel will always have an excuse to go into Palestine scorched earth.

  2. The leaders of both sides of all wars are always in on it together. This is no exception. The most guarded border in history was left wide open for eight hours. Yea right. Hamas never would have tried if they didn’t know the Israelis were gonna stand down. A single Appache Helicopter could have wiped them out. See the proof at CVHOAX.COM
