Soros, Spielberg among Clinton super PAC top donors

Group supporting the Democratic candidate said to raise over $15m, including $2m from media mogul Haim Saban

No, fellow earthlings, we are not making this up here. This–along with a lot of other nonsense–has been part of the daily diet of idiocy that gets passed around in this ‘movement’, including by a good number of self-styled ‘White Nationalists’.

And remember, above all else, notions that Jewish money and Jewish interests control the American political process is all a giant, anti-Semitic conspiracy theory and a ‘canard’. Despite the fact that they are the richest people in the world, they don’t use that money and power to control anything, but rather just ‘let nature run its course’ so that the ‘will of the people’ is served.

New York hedge fund billionaire George Soros and Hollywood director Steven Spielberg are among the biggest donors to a group backing Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton’s presidential run.

In all, Priorities USA Action will report having raised $15.6 million in the past three months when it discloses its fundraising information this month, according to an official at the group who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss fundraising.

The group is called a super PAC, an organization that can campaign on behalf of a candidate, but cannot coordinate efforts with them.

Super PACs can take donations of unlimited size. The biggest gift to the pro-Clinton group was worth $2 million and came from media mogul Haim Saban, owner of the Spanish-language Univision network in the US

Although Clinton is the front-runner in a small Democratic primary, her boosters say she’ll need big money – including from super PACS – to fend off attacks from a huge field of Republican competitors. Officials anticipate raising far more than the $79 million the super PAC brought in to help re-elect President Barack Obama.

On the Republican side, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush will benefit from a super PAC called Right to Rise, which is expected to report having raised about $100 million since the start of the year.

The Republicans will deploy much of their money to win the competitive primary, but still more outside groups have said they will devote their resources to defeating the Democratic nominee.

Clinton’s campaign reported Wednesday it has raised $45 million since she declared her candidacy in mid-April.
