A look at some of the most talented international artists who’ve recently performed in the Holy Land despite international pressure to boycott

The boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel has been gaining momentum over the past few years, with many calling for a boycott of the country, whether cultural or academic. Actors, performers, and major musicians have all been pressured into avoiding Israel, with anti-Israel advocates like Roger Waters and Alice Walker going so far as sending open letters to artists insisting that they boycott the Jewish State. However, there are many artists out there who have said no to the BDS movement against Israel, refusing to succumb to such pressure, and arriving at Ben Gurion International to perform to often sold-out crowds consisting of very appreciative Israelis.

While there are obviously more than we could count, here are ten of the most influential musicians who’ve recently performed in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem, who’ve said NO to BDS.

Pet Shop Boys Despite pressure from the British peoples, The Pet Shop Boys ignored demands to boycott Israel and performed on stage this past June. Although the group publicly announced that they didn’t agree with some of Israel’s policies and practices, they believed that the boycotting of the country was uncalled for.

The Pixies The Pixies also took a stand against the BDS movement against Israel when they played Tel Aviv this past summer. Although the band was slated to play in Israel in 2010, the band was forced to cancel after a large scale bombing brought their safety into question. However the band, which expressed their regret over the situation but made up for it this year when they, along with Soundgarden, came to the country.

Justin Timberlake Pop artist, actor, and idol, Justin Timberlake came under fire for announcing that he was scheduled to play HaYarkon Park at the end of May. Despite some negative reaction for his decision, Timberlake not only played in Israel, but also posted a photo of him at the Western Wall which soon after went viral. On behalf of Israelis everywhere, thanks Justin.

She also surprised her fans when the Funny Girl actress announced that she would be singing for President Peres’ 90th birthday, which took place last year.

Depeche Mode Legendary band Depeche Mode rocked Israel audiences when they played the Jewish state not once, but twice in the last five years. Alicia Keys Another artist who’s firmly said no to the BDS movement is the soulful Alicia Keys. Although she faced serious backlash for performing in Israel, Keys wowed audiences and even her two year old son made an on-stage appearance.

Paul McCartney 45,000 screaming fans were in attendance for Paul McCartney’s 2008 performance in Tel Aviv’s HaYarkon Park. “Shalom Tel Aviv,” the iconic Beatles musician said, before wishing them all a “Shana Tova,” as his concert took place around Rosh Hashana. McCartney played Tel Aviv despite a staunch campaign, lead by Palestinian Omar Barghouti, that said he was “supporting occupation” by playing in Israel. But McCartney did not allow such talks to deter him, and performed an incredible hours-long set that Israelis still talk about to this day.

The Rolling Stones Thanks to some encouragement from Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones had finally agreed to perform in Israel earlier this year. Despite coming under pressure, most notably from Pink Floyd who’ve been spearheading the BDS movement against Israel, the Rolling Stones performed in Tel Aviv on June 4th.

Many say that it was the most spectacular concert of the year.

Lady Gaga If you happen to be one of the million followers of Mother Monster, aka the talented Lady Gaga, then you probably heard about her recent Israeli controversy. Gaga posted a video online explaining she was excited to be coming back to Israel (as she’d performed there in 2009) and says, “Shalom, this is Lady Gaga. I am so excited to perform my new tour in Tel Aviv. I’ll see you soon, Israel. September 13th.” While the message was rather innocuous, many of Gaga’s Arab fans felt the message was insensitive and thoughtless. After her September concert, Gaga went on to claim the Israel was full of kind people with good hearts and spirits, and that the world is “wrong” about the country. Talk about not caving to peer pressure.

  1. The masses are so brainwashed to adore Jews that I can appreciate it when famous celebrities make no comment one way or the other regarding Jews. They feel it’s not worth committing suicide for the brainwashed masses. If celebrities refuse to perform in Israel, they can make some harmless and neutral excuse for not performing there. Perhaps there was a “private illness in the family.” Or there was a “scheduling conflict.”
However the has-beens and wannabes in this article not only perform in Israel; they openly worship Israel.
Thanks to T.U.T. for posting this.
To all my friends, consider this: if you hold a candle in your hand, the light will only be visible for what…fifty yards:? A hundred yards? The light is trivial. It seems useless.
However, when millions of people hold candles, the light is visible from orbit. It’s like those “earth an night” photos you have probably seen.
Every time we discover that a Paul McCartney or Tom Jones or whoever else decides to flagrantly perform in Israel, we become less interested in their music. The reduction may be as trivial as a single candle, but it adds up when we consider millions of other people.
Suppose you like 1980s music. And suppose you are clicking through the Internet, and you see a streaming concert for the Pet Shop Boys. If you are bored, you might click on the concert for a minute, even though you know it will be lousy.
But now, knowing that the Pet Shop Boys love Israel, you will continue to click on, not stopping to pay any attention to those clowns.
As I said, this sort of thing adds up.

It seems that someone drew a swastika on a flyer that was posted in Dockser Hall, an academic building in the center of Northeastern University in Boston.
The flyer publicized a speech by Eran Shamir-Birer of the Israeli military, who is scheduled to speak Monday night (10 Nov 2014) at the School of Law.
The “hate crime” has caused widespread panic.
Northeastern president Joseph E. Aoun apologized to Jews, and condemned the incident in an e-mail to students, faculty, administrators, staff, and others, saying, “We have absolutely no tolerance for anti-Semitism, prejudice, and hate crimes of any kind, including this incident.”
The e-mail was sent Friday at 11:53 p.m. with the subject line “An affront to our community.”
President Aoun is a Lebanese Arab, born in Beirut.
As such, he dares not displease his Jewish masters.

  3. People have to understand that in Hollywood and the music industry, Jews dont just dominate in the usual sense – they dominate the drug dealing to these “super stars”.
The first thing they do is get them on video using coke/met/whatever, then they bring in the boyz and girlz (underage or not) and then they have them.
De’Nero is a classic. There is no way he likes Israel but he was dragged in because they have so much on him. He loves his hookers.
The IDF conscripts – after their 4 years in Army – celebrate by travelling. When they come to Sydney they ALWAYS have the best drugs. The highest quality. Pure as pure Meth-amphetamine, XTC and cocaine. This is well known.
They fund their trips with it and party, party, party – preying on stupid goy women. Getting them high and then filming them having group sex. To embarrass and degrade a “shiksa” is their reason for being on one of their “trips”.

  4. Everybody has a price and sells himself/herself at that price. These musicians are the same… Only there are very few people who don’t sell their dignity, truth and justice at any price…
In fact, these types of people (musicians) are even lower than a prostitute….

  5. I don’t know, for a fact, that Leonard Cohen is one of those not following the boycot, but I did find it interesting that when he played in Austin a year or so ago his $800.00 seats sold out in three minutes. Not many Goys can afford concerts like that. Nevertheless his music is too great for me to boycot. Everyone has limits they just can’t cross!

  6. Dr Kent,
Your limits couldn’t be lower… Do you really have any???
Hope your ‘Dr’ isn’t in psychology.

  7. I AM NOT SURPRISED OF THOSE MJSICIANS THAT WENT ALONG WITH THE JEW AGENDA, EVERY ONE OF THEM IS A “DAMN JEW” AND JEWS ALWAUS STICK TOGETHER, THEY HAVE ALREADY PROVEN THAT, ALL THE BEATLES WERE JEWS SAME AS THE OLD FART ROLLING STONESM IMBERLAKE IS A JEW PINOCHIO NOSE BARBARA IS THE ONE KNOWN BY HER LONG BICK.ETC.MEMBERS OF THE SATANIC TRIBE.

  8. The performers could care less about your comments or your Jew hating anti-Semetic rants, they still performed, Roger Waters Loses $4 Million … $4 million American Express sponsorship and I am sure there will be more to come. The power of sponsors is way much bigger than any of the Jew hating comments you make. Am Yisrael and USA Chai. You are feh, treif, drek!
