The Trump administration is withdrawing roughly 7,000 troops from Afghanistan in the coming months, two defense officials said Thursday, around half of what the American military has there now.
Mr. Trump made the decision at the same time he decided he was pulling American forces out of Syria, one official said. The move is likely one of the first steps to end the United States’ involvement in the 17-year-old war.
The 14,000 American troops currently in Afghanistan are divided between training and advising Afghan forces and a counterterror mission against groups like the Islamic State and Al Qaeda. The reduction, one official said, is in an effort to make Afghan forces more reliant on their own troops and not Western support.
Currently, American airstrikes are at levels not seen since the height of the war, when tens of thousands of American troops were spread throughout the country. That air support, officials say, consists mostly of propping up Afghan troops while they try to hold territory from a resurgent Taliban.
More than 25,000 Afghan troops have died since the American military ended combat operations in late 2014.

This news, as well as this news about the pre planned explosive demolition of buildings 1,2, and 7 at the World Trade Center complex on 911 officially moving forward to a Grand Jury is enough to make a Jew want to move. TruthOutJournal, I wish I had a better understanding of this whole Middle East thing. I am somewhat educated on all things Jew but tend to stay away from the current ME thing because of having received so much conflicting info over the past several years. I think I may have been listening to somebody with bad info, because this person has been steadfast on the mindset of Mathis being critical in our finally breaking ties with Israel & Bibi, but now it appears that is not the case?
