0 thoughts on “Twenty-six Things About the Islamic State (ISIL) that Obama Does Not Want You to Know About”
  1. Professor Chossudovsky makes several errors in his comments.
CLAIM: The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) is a creation of US intelligence.
COMMENT: Agreed. It is a fabrication.
CLAIM: Washington’s “Counter-terrorism Agenda” in Iraq and Syria consists in supporting the terrorists.
COMMENT: No, that only applies to Syria, not Iraq. In Iraq, the people that the USA calls “ISIL” are minority Sunnis who have been starved, tortured, marginalized, and exterminated by Shi’ite death squads who are backed by the USA. These Sunnis are desperately fighting for their lives.
America backs the Shi’ites against the Sunnis in Iraq, but backs the Sunnis against the Shi’ites in every other nation, including Syria, Lebanon, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and so on.
CLAIM: The incursion of the Islamic State (IS) brigades into Iraq starting in June 2014 was part of a carefully planned military-intelligence operation supported covertly by the US, NATO and Israel.
COMMENT: No, it was spontaneous. If I am challenged, I will give examples of how the Sunnis in Iraq were exterminated by the majority Shi’ite government in Baghdad. Finally the Sunnis in Iraq (opposed by the USA) started getting arms from the Sunnis in Syria (backed by the USA), and rose up to fight back in Iraq. For almost four years the USA was busy hijacking and manipulating the “Arab Spring.” This included the destruction of Libya, regime changes in Egypt, Yemen, and Tunisia, and the long proxy war against Syria. During that time, the Sunni insurgency rose in Iraq. The USA did not plan this rebellion in Iraq, but used it as an excuse to re-invade Iraq. Meanwhile the USA had supported Sunni mercenaries in Syria all along.
CLAIM: The counter-terrorism mandate is a fiction. America is the Number One “State Sponsor of Terrorism”
COMMENT: Yes. Statistically speaking, even Israel can’t compare to the USA in the number of people slaughtered, impoverished, and enslaved.
CLAIM: The Islamic State is protected by the US and its allies. If they had wanted to eliminate the Islamic State brigades, they could have “carpet” bombed their convoys of Toyota pickup trucks when they crossed the desert from Syria into Iraq in June.
COMMENT: The USA is indeed bombing the Sunnis in Iraq, while supporting the Shi’ite government in Baghdad. Since Iran also supports the Shi’ite government, Iran too echoes the “ISIL” propaganda.
Syria is a more complex situation. There the USA supports Sunnis against the government, but the Syrian Sunnis also attack the Kurds in the north. The USA seeks to protect the Kurds in Syria, in order to please the oil-rich Kurds in Iraq. But this angers the US-backed Sunnis in Syria. It also angers Turkey, which considers Syrian Kurds to be terrorists, aligned with the PKK (Kurdistan Worker’s Party, which fights the Turkish government).
Chossudovsky says that if the USA really wanted to defeat “ISIL,” then the USA could carpet bomb them. But satellite photos can’t always reveal who is who on the ground in Iraq. The USA is not quite the mastermind that Chossudovsky thinks. The USA has created a mess, and is trying to manage it.
I agree with all these claims…
    >The US has supported Al Qaeda and its affiliated organizations for almost half a century
    >CIA training camps were set up in Pakistan.
    >Since the Reagan Administration, Washington has supported the Islamic terror network.
    >Jihadist textbooks were published by the University of Nebraska.
    >Osama bin Laden, America’s bogyman and founder of Al Qaeda was recruited by the CIA in 1979
    >Al Qaeda was not behind the 9/11 Attacks.
CLAIM: The Islamic State (ISIL) was originally an Al Qaeda-affiliated entity created by US intelligence
COMMENT: US intelligence fabricated the image of “ISIL” as a single, organized army. Some Sunnis in Iraq also call themselves part of “ISIL,” since they imagine themselves to be part of a larger army that does not exist. In reality there is no “ISIL.” There are only desperate insurgents in Iraq, and US-sponsored terrorists in Syria.
CLAIM: There are Western Special Forces and Western intelligence operatives within the ranks of the ISIL. British Special Forces and MI6 have been involved in training jihadist rebels in Syria.
COMMENT: There is no “ISIL.” There are Sunni insurgents in Iraq, and Sunni mercenaries in Syria. The USA and MI6 train and support the Sunni mercenaries in Syria, but bomb the Sunni insurgents in Iraq.
CLAIM: Western military specialists on contract to the Pentagon have trained the terrorists in the use of chemical weapons.
COMMENT: For use in Syria, yes, but not in Iraq.
CLAIM: The ISIL’s practice of beheadings is part of the US sponsored terrorist training programs implemented in Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
COMMENT: Again Chossudovsky erroneously assumes that “ISIL” exists, and that it is a single entity stretching across Syria and Iraq, just like the US government claims it does. The Foley “beheadings” and their ilk are all fake. They are hoaxes. The real beheadings are complex. In Iraq, Shi’ites and Sunnis behead each other to make examples. Each side wants to scare the other side. In Syria, the US-backed Sunni mercenaries do the beheadings. They want to scare all who are allied with the government.
CLAIM: A large number of ISIL mercenaries are convicted criminals released from Saudi prisons on condition they join the ISIL. Saudi death row inmates were recruited to join the terror brigades.
COMMENT: In Syria yes. In Iraq no.
CLAIM: Israel has supported the ISIL and Al Nusrah brigades out of the Golan Heights.
COMMENT: True, but only for action in Syria against the Syrian government. Not for action in Iraq. The Iraqi Sunnis hate the Jews. (But the Iraqi Kurds love them.)
CLAIM: The ISIL are the foot soldiers of the Western military alliance. Their unspoken mandate is to wreck havoc and destruction in Syria and Iraq, acting on behalf of their US sponsors.
COMMENT: In Syria yes. In Iraq no.
CLAIM: US Senator John McCain has met up with jihadist terrorist leaders in Syria.
    COMMENT: True.
CLAIM: The Islamic State (IS) militia, which is currently the alleged target of a US-NATO bombing campaign under a “counter-terrorism” mandate, continues to be supported covertly by the US. Washington and its allies continue to provide military aid to the Islamic State.
COMMENT: In Syria yes. In Iraq no. And again, there is no “Islamic State” in terms of a single organized group. The Sunni mercenaries are real in Syria, and the Sunni insurgents are real in Iraq, but “ISIL” is a fiction.
CLAIM: US and allied bombings are not targeting the ISIL, they are bombing the economic infrastructure of Iraq and Syria including factories and oil refineries.
COMMENT: In Syria yes. In Iraq no. The USA will not bomb refineries controlled by Shi’ites in southern Iraq, and Kurds in northern Iraq. The latter are allied with Israel. Northern Iraq is full of Israelis. It’s about the oil there.
CLAIM: The ISIL caliphate project is part of a longstanding US foreign policy agenda to carve up Iraq and Syria into separate territories: A Sunni Islamist Caliphate, an Arab Shia Republic, and a Republic of Kurdistan.
COMMENT: That’s the overall plan, yes.
CLAIM: Boko Haram in Nigeria, Al Shabab in Somalia, the Libya Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) (supported by NATO in 2011), Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), Jemaah Islamiah (JI) in Indonesia, among other Al Qaeda affiliated groups are supported covertly by Western intelligence.
COMMENT: Chossudovsky is over-generalizing. Boko Haram in Nigeria and Al Shabab in Somalia are rebels against US imperialist control. The other groups are indeed US assets and inventions.
CLAIM: The US is also supporting Al Qaeda affiliated terrorist organizations in the Xinjiang Uighur autonomous region of China. The underlying objective is to trigger political instability in Western China.
COMMENT: Chossudovsky is speculating. The Uighurs in Xinjiang are Muslim and they want independence. China crushes them brutally, but Chossudovsky offers no proof that the USA is helping the Muslims, nor does he explain why the USA wants to trigger political instability in Western China. The instability had already existed for years. The Chinese repression of local Uighurs is quite savage. China will not let them have independence, since Xinjiang has vast quantities of oil and gas. It is China’s largest natural gas-producing region.
CLAIM: Chinese jihadists are reported to have received “terrorist training” from the Islamic State “in order to conduct attacks in China”. The declared objective of these Chinese-based jihadist entities (which serves the interests of the US) is to establish a Islamic caliphate extending into Western China.
COMMENT: Oh come on. Xinjiang is a long way from the Middle East. How could the fictitious “Islamic State” train local guerillas?
The rest of Chossudovsky’s claims are obviously correct.
