London Mayor candidates Sadiq Khan and Zac Goldsmith took it in turns to visit Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis at his home in north-west London this afternoon.
The respective Labour and Tory MPs, who are vying for the mayoral position, met Rabbi Mirvis to discuss issues facing the Jewish community.
Mr Khan, Labour’s Tooting MP, met Rabbi Mirvis first, followed by Richmond Park and North Kingston Conservative MP Mr Goldsmith an hour later at around 4:30pm.
After the meeting, Mr Khan tweeted a photo of himself with Rabbi Mirvis, with a caption that read: “Good to discuss how I’ll be a Mayor for all Londoners with @ChiefRabbi Ephraim Mirvis this afternoon.”
Rabbi Mirvis said: “It was a great pleasure to spend some time getting to know two of the candidates for Mayor of London and to discuss some the issues of concern to Jewish Londoners.
“Both spoke in very warm terms about our community and I wished them the very best of luck at the polls on 5th May”.
It is understood that the meetings were arranged after the candidates contacted Rabbi Mirvis’ office. A spokesman confirmed that no candidates representing other parties had been in touch.
Mr Khan and Mr Goldsmith are running for the position of London Mayor against Green Party candidate Siân Berry, Liberal Democrat candidate Caroline Pidgeon, Ukip’s Peter Whittle and Respect’s George Galloway.

Khan is a f***ing hypocrite. He kisses butt only to benefit himself. He was useless as mayor 1st time around and he takes bribes in order to carry out works for the Pakistani community in Nottingham. He can barely read nor write. How the hell he became mayor is beyond me.
