The reason is that new sanctions would strengthen the anti-imperialists in Iran, who are locked in a power struggle with the rich oligarchs in Iran (such as President Rouhani). The oligarchs want to completely merge Iran with the Judeo-Western matrix, with its casino capitalism, its Jew-worship, its unemployment, its ever-widening gap between the rich and the rest, and so on.
Obama is all for this. New sanctions would politically weaken the rich oligarchs in Iran.
Howdy Konrad, do you have any book recommendations on Iran? currently finishing “Persian Mirrors” by Elaine Sciolino, a long time WESTERN Journalist in Iran NYTimes and others. Not that reading a Conservative journalists life in Iran is bad it is tainted to be sure.
