deuteronomy

ed note–hate to say it, but he is right. The Old Testament encouraged using Gentile girls captured in war as sex slaves and Lot, Abraham’s cousin, gave his 2 virgin daughters away to sex freaks from Sodom to be ‘abused’ as they saw fit.

It is for these very same reasons that within Jewish communities–and particularly the Orthodox–there is found a disproportionately-high instance of child sexual abuse. People can do all sorts of mental somersaults in trying to ‘contextualize’ what appears in black and white within the pages of the Old Testament (as I am sure they will do in response to this story) but the sad fact and the ugly truth is that–just as the old saying goes–‘it is what it is.’

  1. if one wants to ‘justify’ something , one can always find something that suits one’s claim.
People with perverse, psychotic inclinations and desires , have particular ‘ abilities’ to create theories that refer either to ‘God’ or some other ‘Higher Powers ‘ that ‘made them do it’.
Anything that shifts the blame from the accused himself.
    The Gospel clearly says:
“but whoever causes one of these LITTLE ONES who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea…”
    Matt 18:6
ed note–there is no twisting anything to make things fit. The Old Testament is clear on this matter–children are fair game for sexual abuse, and we can be rest assured that this was exactly what Jesus was referencing in His comments found in Matt 18. If He were truly a follower of the Old Testament, He would have added the required caveat–‘EXCEPT those children who have not known man by sleeping with him’–just another piece of evidence showing that there was nothing Judaic about Jesus and that He came to destroy what was a perverse, criminal mindset and way of life.

  2. ad 1 ed note.
you have to remember that the times and morality were completely different then .
The early Christiantity did NOT condemn slavery , which at that time was considered as something normal . In the O.T. stoning was part of the punishment for severe sins.
Now we ,of course, consider this completely unacceptable. yet, the Catholic Church supported
( for all good reasons) the capital punishment for grave offences .
Now the V-2 sect is against it.

    Deuteronomy 22:25-27
“But if in the open country a man meets a young woman who is betrothed, and the man seizes her and lies with her, then only the man who lay with her SHALL DIE.
But you shall do nothing to the young woman; she has committed NO offense punishable by death…”
Leviticus 20:13 “..If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. ”
ed note–As nature and natural law indicate, God is constant and not changing. What was murder yesterday is murder today. Same with theft, lying, rape, etc.
In the first case you cite, it is specifically dealing with a BETROTHED woman who is already considered another man’s future property, so the crime in not in assaulting her, but rather in robbing another man of her virginity and therefore ‘depreciating’ her value as his future wife.
In the second case, it deals specifically with homosexual activity and has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the original issue of molesting children.

  3. God, what is it with people who refuse to see things for what they are? It is there in black and freaking white within the pages of the jews’ ‘holy’ books allowing such behavior and yet there are those claiming to be christian of whatever stripe trying to justify it by saying ‘things were different then’. Ed note is right–you can’t mix light with dark or evil with good and Judaism is now what it has always been throughout history–a bad tree that produces bad fruit.

  4. ‘..God is constant and not changing…”
I do not know exactly what you mean by that. God is a PERSON and as such He is capable of emotions and the O.T. ( as well as N.T. ) have plenty examples of that. (” ..this or that pleased God”, “this or that angered God..”.
When Jews wanted to stone the woman ,Jesus did NOT rebuke them FOR that very ACT OF stoning, BUT for the fact that they themselves were gulity of many severe sins ( maybe even similar to the ones of that woman) , so basically they were hypocrites and ,as we know, He despised hypocrisy with His whole heart.
“…As he was speaking, the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in the act of adultery. They put her in front of the crowd. “Teacher,” they said to Jesus, “this woman was caught in the act of adultery. The LAW OF MOSES says to stone her.
What do you say?” They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger.
They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!” ..”
ed note–if there was nothing unjust in stoning her to death and if He truly believed in the law of Moses, which says she MUST–not ‘may’–be stoned, then Jesus would have either sanctioned it (as the law did not stipulate that those doing the stoning must be free of sin) or else–obviously being free of sin–He would have done it Himself.
As your quote reminds us, the entire event began as an exercise with the Jews trying to entrap Him into giving an answer they could then use against Him, as they did when they asked about paying taxes to Caesar. You are conflating things here that do not relate to each other.

  5. “..As your quote reminds us, the entire event began as an exercise with the Jews trying to entrap Him into giving an answer they could then use against Him, as they did when they asked about paying taxes to Caesar…”
Of course that the Jewish hierarchy , the Established Order of that time, hated Jesus and tried to find something against Him. They found Him to be an offense . An offense to their laws, customs, traditions, etc . He was also not of nobility, not of the status, richess , a poor, uneducated , insignificant man ( according to them of course) , who, however ,had the ‘strange’ powers over crowds and defied with an extraordinary Authority their power.
Their tragedy was they they didn’t believe in their own sacred TEXTS ( from the O.T.) , which clearly pre-announced comming of the Messiah. ( Psalm 22 A Cry of Anguish and a Song of Praise. Isaiah 53 and many other prophets). They didn’t have the true faith ,so they were not able to recognize God-Man in Jesus. The Catholic Church always treated the O.T. as a part of the Holy Bible and I BELIEVE that it had some good reasons for it. I may NOt understand many of them, but as a believer I have to acknowledge it, and trust the Authority of the Holy Magisterium of the CC. I am not a theologian , an ‘expert’ on the Bible. But I want to believe that there MUST be a good reason why the Church always included the OT in the Bible.
Call me stupid or naive if you will, but either I believe OR I doubt.
    Tertium non datur.
ed note–Marta, I think you are neither stupid nor naive. Rather, I think that it is a simple issue of trying to live in 2 worlds, which Jesus said was impossible.
Yes, there were Judaic prophecies concerning the coming of the Messiah, but both of us know that none of these prophecies paint a picture of the Jesus we know. The coming messiah for which the Jews wait is a replicant of the Judaic god and those who resemble him such as Cain, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David, Solomon, etc–bloodthirsty, vengeful, greedy, covetous, deceitful and preferring Jews to Gentiles. This was the reason they rejected Him, because he preached something completely antithetical to what they knew based upon the Judaic teachings and traditions handed down from the Torah.
The inability on the part of organized Christianity to deal with Judaism in a rational way is best explained thus–

The monkey will not let go of the banana he is holding in his hand and as such finds himself a prisoner. Due entirely to his own unwillingness to let go of the very thing which he thinks he wants but which in truth is working against him, he now finds himself paralyzed and at the mercy of forces less powerful than himself. LIkewise, Christianity’s unwillingness to let go of the tenets of Judaism have led to its capture and to it now being a plaything the Jews use in bringing about the fulfillment of the very same ‘Messiah’ that is/will be the personification of the beast as described in the book of the Apocalypse.

  6. It must be great to be as “Godly”, as Marta 15, and obviousl. to ‘Ceeeeatholics’,and other extreme Zoo Christians ,that means being more Jew ,than the Jews !
ed note–no, Dante, I don’t think that Marta is necessarily ‘self-righteous’ as you intimate. Rather, I think she is trying to mix oil and water and has not yet grasped the fact that the 2 aren’t mixable. I think her intentions are good but her methods need some calibration. We were all there at one time in our lives, I know I was

  7. ‘..Yes, there were Judaic prophecies concerning the coming of the Messiah, but both of us know that none of these prophecies paint a picture of the Jesus we know…”

actually MANY of them are ( Psalm 22 , Issiah 53 and more) were very precise and exact.
    To the last detail.
The fact that majority of the ancient Israeli didn’t accept Jesus as the Messiah and prefered listening to their faithless leaders is very similar to OUR Times.
Majority of the so- called Catholics chooses to believe their faithless, heretical, apostatic , modern, corrupted V-2 hierarchy , instead of the Teaching of the Magisterium of the pre-V2 Church. Why?? Because it is more ‘worldly’, more leninet, more “who am I to judge’ type.
It actually mixes water and oil ,and many love the taste and the look of it.
The Jews ( Judeans) of Jesus’s Times were also more inclined to believe in their worldly authorities , in their already Established Order than in the teachings of some strange man, who not only was poor and humble , but also eventually was crucified like a common criminal.
People from that time were mostly illiterate, they didn’t have access to books, articles, etc.
They relied mostly on the authority of their scribes , teaches etc. For them their word , their opinion was the highest authority. Nowadays people do have access to books, writings, internet and everything e and ?Majorty of them do not want to bother with anything.
They prefer to follow the lives of celebrities.
ed note–the ‘leaders’ they followed in rejecting Jesus as the Messiah were men such as Moses, who instructed them that if any ‘dreamer of dreams’ came along preaching something different than what he preached to them that this ‘dreamer’ was to be rejected and put to death to wit–
‘If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or wonder that he tells you comes to pass, (Jesus’ miracles) and if he says, ‘Let us go after other gods,’ which you have not known, (Jesus’ teachings concerning humility, love of neighbor, forgiveness, charity towards all, etc) you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. For the Lord your God is testing you, to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. But that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has taught rebellion against the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.’ Deuteronomy, 13
You are trying to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear here, Marta, and as much as I love a good discussion, nevertheless there is something to respected in what Jesus had to say about ‘casting pearls’ and therefore, as the old song from Billy Joel goes I’m ‘moving out’.

  8. Talking about Moses:
“… I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him. How can you believe since you accept glory from ONE ANOTHER BUT do not seek the glory that comes from the only God ?
“But do not think I will accuse you before the Father. Your ACCUSER IS MOSES , on whom your hopes are set…”
    John 5:43-45

Jesus mentioned here that Moses himself will be an accuser of many pharisees and scribes etc., who chose their own glory and prestige over the belief that HE was the predicted Messiah.
Why did He do it if Moses was just simple and plain criminal of the criminal OT?
    Hmm?

  9. Sister Marta, your understand very little of anything, and certainly not true history, or the horror that is the Old Testament. ….and Christs TOTAL abolition of it.
I attended your Ceeeeeatholic “Schools”, and suffered abuse from nothing but crazies in their system ….thankfully nothing sexual ( which the losers are obsessed by, and see you are to ) ,some of whom where arrested, thrown out, or ended up in mental institutions.
I know by your condensending rudness ,and love of punishment analogies ,and demonizing what you where, and are.
So don’t pull it with me. i had ENOUGH from your insanity in my life, and the planet, and you never will be ‘my amigo’.
So keep the 4 th grade Spanish lesson, to yourself.
As I told you before this is not Jew Henry Makow, or EWTN ,but the Ugly Truth, and trolls conscious, or unconscious are not tolerated here ….in Mark Glenn you ran up against the WRONG one.

  10. The Alexandria family of Egypt were a very wealthy, powerful family of ‘jews’ during Roman rule of the region. They had a very strong bond with Rome, and they did not want any changes to come about that would interfere with their power, influence, and prestige. The same goes for the Herod family of the so called Holy Land. They too did not want any type of ‘jewish’ uprising taking place.
There are many books remember, that it was decided to not be included into Rome’s Christian doctrines that Constantine finally had the last say in. Afterwrds, anybody that did not agree, promote, and worship as Constantine ordered, were labeled as heretics, soothsayers, demonics, (later to be labled as witches & wizards, occultists, etc)..and were thus run down and persecuted or butchered. This butchery was carried out in Europe, far Eastern Europe, Persia, the Middle East, and into Africa. The destruction of the Great Library of Alexandria is a famous example of these pursuits, and there are many. many more including a few famous philosophers. The persecution of Galileo is another famous example.

  11. All varieties of ‘jews’ fall. They claim they are special and above all others, but they too fall victim to man’s ego, materialism, and primitive conscious. They are nothing special.
